Humanum Anatomia

Human Anatomy:
we rise from the mud to the stars

Humanum Anatomia is based on the study of the human body including anatomy and physiology. The anatomy and physiology is the structure and function of the human body. Comprised of cells, tissues, and membranes that effect major systems function and overall development. Many systems and mechanisms interact in order to maintain homeostasis.

Humanum Anatomia is a video comprised of a series of cyanotype prints. The content of the images were created through the use of scanned in x-rays, medical diagrams, and pictures of female models combined in Photoshop.  The images were printed as traditional cyanotypes using potassium ferrocyanide, ferric ammonium citrate, distilled water, and UV light. After processing the prints the images were then scanned in as a .tiff and made into the video you see below.

Scanning in the cyanotypes and converting them into a digital medium gives them a new perspective and more depth. Transforming the images into a video gives the viewer the chance to examine the work in a more intimate way than simply looking at the final print. The original audio track was designed to mimic the curiosity associated with the study of the human body.
